Primary Purpose of Department:
The Counseling Center at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte supports the academic, personal, and interpersonal development of UNC Charlotte students by providing short-term individual and group counseling, psychological assessment, consultation for faculty, staff, parents, and students, and educational programs to the campus community.
Primary Purpose of Position:
Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Training at Counseling and Psychological Services, this position provides direct service to students in the form of individual and group therapy, clinical consultation, and crisis intervention; consultation with faculty, staff, students, parents, and others; outreach and crisis response to the campus community; research and evaluation; supervision of trainees; and service to the University.
Summary of Position Responsibilities:
Conduct individual and group counseling and psychotherapy, consult with faculty and professional staff who seek assistance dealing with students, provide supervision to master’s and doctoral level trainees, and provide outreach services and training seminars to students, faculty, and staff. Administer and interpret individual psychological tests, as well as conduct research projects that pursue questions of applied value for the field of social work or clinical psychology. This position requires experience in the provision of supervision and training activities for graduate-level mental health trainees.
Minimum Education/Experience:
The successful candidate will possess strong counseling skills within a brief model; clinical experience with diverse populations; enthusiasm for collaboration within the Center and throughout the University community; and demonstrated interest in university counseling. The successful candidate must have experience and interest in providing supervision and other training activities to psychology trainees.
