Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President & Dean of Students, the Assistant Dean for Leadership & Engagement provides
administrative, operational, and fiscal oversight for Leadership & Engagement areas which
include Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL); Leadership, Service, and Civic
Engagement; and Student Engagement and
Campus Programs. These units oversee annual University-wide events and major student organization-sponsored programs including Dance
Marathon, Campus Activities Board, University Lecture Committee, Homecoming, Campus Activities Board, Late Night Programs, & Family Weekend.
The Assistant Dean coordinates and collaborates on Mindful and Engaged Hawkeyes and Days of Dialogue, which increase engagement in civil
discourse and support belonging at the University of Iowa.
As a leader in fostering an outstanding student experience at Iowa, the
Assistant Dean will provide administrative oversight of Engagement Advising, which supports student engagement in high-impact experiences
across campus. The Assistant Dean will assist in creating and sustaining student success initiatives and innovative programs for a diverse
campus community, as well as coordinate the strategic planning and assessment processes for Leadership and Engagement.
The Assistant
Dean will respond to critical needs within the Dean of Students’ areas and beyond, including late night events, student activism, and/or
emergency situations. The Assistant Dean will also coordinate Dean of Students priorities and initiatives including, but not limited to,
student award programs, Bridging Our World, DOS Student Advisory Board, Hawkeye Veterans program, and Division of Student Life student
government priorities funding.
