The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services. Equipped with the most technologically advanced facilities located on a university campus, the college is dedicated to safeguarding public health by studying emerging infectious diseases that affect both animal and human health. Position Summary:
The technical and professional responsibilities associated with this position include all aspects of microbiologic, serologic, and molecular based diagnostics supporting both diagnostic investigation and research related to wildlife diseases. Also included is the maintenance of laboratory equipment, supplies, and assuring that all safety requirements are met. Precise records, regular written, and telephone communication activities are involved. Assistance in planning and selection of diagnostic approaches related to research projects also may be included. This position involves the planning and direction of daily work, as well as training of new personnel (students, staff).
