Position Summary:
The successful candidate will develop an applied research program creating an interdisciplinary approach toward sustainable cropping systems for agronomic and specialty crops, with an emphasis in pesticide stewardship. Efforts to develop these systems will focus on multiple areas that unite cultural practices, conservation tillage, and pest management while incorporating contemporary management strategies with new innovative sustainability approaches. The individual is expected to work closely with Georgia Department of Agriculture as well as other regulatory agencies and science-based organizations in conducting applied research that considers how using pesticides, primarily herbicides, advance sustainable cropping systems while also improving overall farm health. Developing effective application practices that foster on-target pesticide applications while protecting applicators, the environment, and the consumer will be a focal point of the applied research portion of this position.
