Position Summary:
The Assistant Curator of Education at the Georgia Museum of Art develops and implements PK-12 school and teacher programs for general and special needs audiences in Athens and statewide, working closely with the associate curator of education and the curator of education to ensure that these programs align with the vision and mission of the education department. The Assistant Curator of Education manages all aspects of school tours and logistics for onsite, virtual and hybrid PK-12 programs, including developing tour content and art activities that support classroom curricula and a range of learning modalities. The core responsibilities of this individual include managing the docent program (including docent training) and coordinating school tours (including responding to tour inquiries and booking docents for guided tours). The employee also provides support for school partnerships and teacher programs, including professional development opportunities for PK-12 educators. The Assistant Curator of Education also writes interpretive educational materials, develops and leads tours to audiences of all ages, manages the summer Art Adventures program, and assists with other education programs as needed. Some evening and weekend hours are needed. The Assistant Curator of Education is an advocate for the museum locally, regionally and nationally, representing the museum with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
