Position Highlights
Working collaboratively with faculty, specialists, associates and the community, this position will lead the Pima Extension Smartscape Program to implement educational and informational programs for individuals, organizations and communities. This position will oversee, plan, develop, coordinate, and conduct community education on practical landscaping and water conservation practices. They will deliver and oversee delivery of content, programs, materials and technology solutions, as needed, to support program objectives. They will collaborate with the primary funding partner, City of Tucson Water Department, to develop plans, grant deliverables, and strategies to implement the program. The successful candidate needs to have exemplary communication and writing skills in both English and Spanish. They must have comprehensive knowledge of water conservation as related to landscape practices and green infrastructure appropriate for the Sonoran desert.

Duties & Responsibilities
Knowledge in working in a higher education institution. Skill in teaching, public speaking and
presenting information to large groups. Ability to communicate effectively with different
groups/individuals.
Provide leadership for staff, instructors and independent contractors, including:
* Lead monitor, and supervise staff to develop and achieve goals
* Assign and delegate duties to team members based on their skills and talents
* Create an inspiring and positive environment for the team
* Oversee hiring and other administrative human resources program elements
Perform investigatory research and collect evaluation data to improve programs, services and community outreach and facilitate develop/ implement practices based on findings.
* Coordinate within the university and professional community to maintain up-to-date knowledge about current practices and efforts in the sustainable landscapes field
Act as principal liaison between Smartscape, stakeholders, constituents and other
community and/or government programs, committees and groups.- Attend regular sponsor and statewide Smartscape partner meetings and maintain open communication. – Attend meetings, conferences and events with relevant stakeholders, groups, programs as deemed important by sponsor, supervisor, or personally, to provide value to the Smartscape Program
Share class facilitation responsibilities with the Smartscape team, as needed.
* Facilitate in-person and online classes, including set up and management of the in-person and virtual classroom via Zoom or equivalent – Transport equipment and supplies as needed
* Ensure that all technology is functioning properly
* Provide instructor and participant support – – Collect class attendance and participation data
Serve as backup and/or assistant instructor for all courses/classes in both English and Spanish as needed.
* Learn all class material in order to be able teach any class proficiently to provide coverage for Instructor, as needed.
