The Human Resources (HR) Generalist I, under general supervision, provides moderately complex Human Resources work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Identifies and screens applications for minimum requirements. Works with departments through the recruitment and hiring process.
Assists hiring managers with offers of employment, may assist in creating offer letters, ensuring selected candidates meet minimum qualifications for positions. Assists in ensuring appropriate compensation.
Performs credential verifications, background screenings, and verifies documentation for employment.
Maintains employee records and ensures compliance with the state records retention process. Maintains accurate employment files and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Assists supervisors and employees with HR-related questions.
Maintains the name badge order database, places and picks up orders from the vendor.
Purchases supplies for the office and office events.
Assists new-hire employees with paperwork completion and orientation.
Maintains and updates the University Organization Chart.
Provides recruitment training and assigns search committees.
Distributes and monitors surveys to employees from HR.
Attends recruiting events and job fairs.

Minimum Requirements
Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience – No prior experience required.
Knowledge of – Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of HR concepts, principles, and practices in relation to recruitment and employment.
Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Licensing / Professional Certification – None.
Physical Requirements – None.

Supervision of Others
This position generally does not supervise employees.
Hours: Monday – Friday; 8am – 5pm.
Salary: $17/hr
Please note: This is NOT a remote position. The selected candidate will be required to work on campus.
