TEACH is on a mission to rebrand teaching and reinvent how the teaching profession recruits, meeting future teachers where they are – online, on their phones, and on social media.
TEACH was founded by the U.S. Department of Education to inspire talented and diverse individuals to explore the teaching profession and encourage them to commit to teaching by providing support and resources. We reach millions of people per year with TEACH.org content and experiences. The effectiveness of these interactions will determine the future of the talent pipeline for the American teaching workforce and the educational outcomes for millions of students.
While we are dedicated to recruiting talented individuals from all backgrounds, TEACH has prioritized increasing the number of talented Black and Latinx individuals that we recruit into the teaching profession. In the regions we serve, the percentage of students who are Black and Latinx is much higher than the percentage of Black and Latinx teachers. Ample research indicates that this “teacher diversity gap” has an adverse impact on students and that more Black and Latinx teachers would benefit students. Our partner school districts and educator preparation programs and State Departments of Ed have all made recruiting more Black and Latinx educators a priority.
As the Manager of Digital and Social Channels, your work will have a critical impact in improving life opportunities for all students by inspiring and supporting diverse, talented individuals to consider and enter the teaching profession.
On a day-to-day basis, you will lead the strategy and execution for TEACH’s national and regional social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter, and Pinterest. You’ll help develop compelling campaigns that will inspire people to explore the teaching career and make them aware of TEACH’s free, valuable products and services. You’ll help tell stories of impact from teachers across the country, and think creatively about how to increase engagement within TEACH’s social media communities. And you’ll help analyze KPIs to inform how we shape our social media initiatives.
You’ll be part of a small, close-knit team that is incredibly mission-driven, agile, data-driven, and highly collaborative. We love to pilot and test new ideas, iterate and fail fast, optimize what works, discard what doesn’t, and learn from both. And, we love to have fun! You’ll use user research and data to analyze audience needs/behavior, propose strategy and execute innovative social media campaigns, manage and coordinate content, determine goals, measure results, and increase TEACH’s impact by recruiting new diverse teachers into the profession.
In this role you will report directly to the Director of Marketing and will collaborate extensively with the Content team, the User Engagement team, TEACH’s Regional Partnership Managers, and our digital marketing agency. You will consult with TEACH leaders to help them advocate for TEACH on social media. You will be a driving force in building a social media program that attracts, engages, and cultivates millions of users to consider and pursue the teaching profession.
