Job Summary:
Directs, leads and provides guidance in the management of a regional territory for Synovus Trust Company’s Personal Trust group. Develops and implements business plans, financial policies, and marketing objectives for the group. Establishes group operating procedures and investment procedures. Directs the set-up, implementation and administration of trusts and estates.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages a team of Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, and Trust Specialists responsible for setting up and administering estate and personal trust accounts, retaining client relationships, and developing these relationships to their fullest potential by cross-selling financial services.
• Assigns accounts and ensures relationships are managed according to fiduciary policies and procedures so satisfactory audits and service standards are met. Acts as fiduciary resource to answer questions, review documents, negotiate fees, and approve discretionary distributions. Establishes and administers difficult or complex estate and personal trust accounts. Manages account relationship portfolios.
• Grows and expands the Trust presence among the bank team in the regional market. Networks with the region’s bank teams including the bank Market Executive, the Private Wealth team, the bank’s advisory board, and the branch.
• Grows and expands Personal Trust top line revenue by retaining current clients and meeting sales expectations. Establishes sales goals for Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers. Manages the sales process. Assists the team with reaching sales objectives. Meets with current and prospective clients.
• Manages the budgeted expense line to produce NIBT goals set for the market. Establishes discretionary budget spend for the market including travel, entertainment, and sponsorships.
• Attends Trust Committee meetings. Provides account reviews, develops and communicates investment recommendations and implements plans set forth by the Trust Committee.
• Oversee compliance adherence for accounts under market responsibility. Oversees Reg 9 and administrative reviews, exception management, documentation of files, and compliance testing for accounts assigned to the region.
• Stays abreast of regulatory and industry changes, assesses the impact to the business and advises management accordingly. Works with key stakeholders to ensure all necessary actions are taken in a timely manner to ensure the STC remains in compliance.
• Maintains a presence in the community and engages in local community activities. Participates in the community building networking COI relationships and participates in community and bank functions. Participates in and attends relevant industry conferences.
• Provides leadership, direction and growth opportunities to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning or directing work, appraising performance, disciplining team members and resolving problems. Works with the Human Resources Department to resolve more complex team member-related issues.
• Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or a related discipline OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience: Ten years of experience administering personal trusts, estates and investment accounts including three years in a management or leadership role.
