JOB SUMMARY
The SVP, Medical Affairs Business Development leader will play a critical role in helping Syneos Health achieve its strategic priorities and execute against business goals. This role will lead a team of business developers and provides strategic leadership to drive the team to success. This role will be focused on driving business across Medical Affairs offerings while also focusing on building a healthy pipeline and driving cross-sell efforts.
Job responsibilities
1. As a member of executive management, sets both short and long-term strategic plans for all aspects of operations and growth as related to fulfilling the expectations of the Company’s value creation plan and aligns to strategic business development initiatives.
2. Works closely with the senior management of business development to develop and implement marketing and site management plans, programs, and policies to maximize growth consistent with corporate goals.
3. Oversees and ensures that the Business Development team forecasts sales and activity objectives in appropriate systems. Ensures an annual business plan is developed and outlays a strategy for further business development of all specific market segments and strategic accounts. Reviews these plans monthly to determine where adjustments may be required.
4. Develops and grows meaningful relationships with the appropriate strategic operation team leaders / stakeholders to provide solutions in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures. May provide oversight to marketing, advertising, and promotion programs by evaluating and providing input to corporate communication strategies.
5. Provides regular updates to the Business Development senior management team on new activities, and customer engagements and ensure entry into salesforce.com. Provides updates on urgent issues as they arise.
6. Maintains professional level of knowledge of Syneos Health offerings and knows how to engage customers across the product development life cycle to ensure our offerings add value and delight our customers.
7. Approves courses of action on all management / human resources’ matters, including salary administration; employment hires, transfers, terminations; performance appraisals and professional development; job description preparation, and employee counseling. Provides support and guidance to less experienced staff members. Works with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods. Supports the BD function by directly engaging with clients to identify clients, leverage relationships, and deliver solutions either alongside the business developers or yourself as appropriate.

Qualifications
What we’re looking for
Requires a BA/BS degree in a science related field, or equivalent related education and experience, plus, extensive experience across the biopharmaceutical industry in Medical Affairs roles.
Advanced degree, i.e., PhD, masters, etc., preferred for credibility in this marketplace.
Experiences that are desirablye include sales, marketing, managed markets, clinical development, and medical affairs which span operational roles up through senior leadership roles is advantageous. Experiences in the service sector within business development and in management and/or senior management is also a plus.
An advanced degree such as MBA/PhD/MD preferred.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and voicemail are required.
The candidate must possess a strong strategic orientation with demonstrated success leading and inspiring others.
Superior presentation, documentation, negotiation, people leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong team-oriented approach.
The ability to perform several tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines is necessary.
Must have valid, current driver’s license and ability to secure corporate credit card.
