The anticipated salary range for this role is between $161,000.00and $231,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Manage a variety of compliance delivery areas across business advisory, surveillance, investigations, training and control design. Advise business leadership on compliance matters, including new products and strategy, employee misconduct and regulatory interpretation. Engage with regulators to understand business requirements and incorporate findings into internal compliance strategy.
Manage a variety of compliance delivery areas across business advisory, surveillance, investigations, training and control design. Act as first-level approver on compliance matters escalated by business stakeholders. Continuously evaluate adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls relating to regulatory risk, particularly during periods of transformation or in the undertaking of new business ventures. Engage with regulators to understand business requirements and incorporate findings into internal compliance strategy.
Foster strong relationships with business stakeholders through timely and value-added handling of regulatory issues and requests. Establish internal network across adjacent control functions including legal, HR, risk management and audit. Leverage relationships to provide holistic compliance coverage to business stakeholders. Participate in industry roundtables and other forums to stay current on latest developments in the regulatory landscape and deepen network of external counterparts and regulators. Align with counterparts in other regions or business verticals to identify emerging themes and to share best practice.
Demonstrate an awareness of the regulatory landscape by providing timely and value-added guidance to business stakeholders. Apply subject matter expertise to ongoing impact analysis of new business initiatives and opportunities; provide expert guidance to business stakeholders on balancing regulatory risks against commercial opportunities. Monitor briefings and other communications from key regulators on a continuous basis to understand emerging themes on new regulations, and clarifications on existing regulations. Leverage network of internal colleagues, counterparts at competitors and regulatory contacts to stay current on the latest interpretations and precedents of regulations.
