DSHS BHA IT Network and Telecommunications – Entry Level

We are seeking an experienced professional to maintain, modify, troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix network hardware, software, and virtualized components quickly. This job is a great opportunity to support our mission to Transform Lives at Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS)

In this role, as a Network & Telecommunications Administrator reporting to the IT/Telecommunications Supervisor, you will provide support for the telecommunications and infrastructure cabling needs of the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island.

Some of what you’ll do:

• Administer, monitor, configure, deploy, update, and manage telecommunications systems and solve related issues
• Determine, coordinate and implement the telephone adds, moves and changes across the entire hospital campus for the voice and data networks while working with existing live, mission critical services
• Troubleshoot, relocate and repair hospital telephones, data, fax and other IT systems & services.
• Reroute cross connects to the Distribution Frame, Main Distribution Frames (MDF) or Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDF) to new locations
• Plan cable pathway from IDF/MDF to new destination, maintaining compliance with Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), industry and the latest Telecommunication Industry Association (TIA) standards
• Resolve customer issues using BICSI technical expertise and knowledge or through appropriate research
• Perform upgrades to local area network and telephony infrastructure and ensure the IT Operations Team provides timely maintenance, support and enhancements for telephony systems
• Manage telecommunications equipment inventory, vendor contracts and associated billing
• Manage cell phone inventory – providing data for supervisors to determine cellular phones are being properly used and two-way radio system network, handheld mobile devices and base stations
• Install new voice / data services – industry standards may conflict with requested service location. Must tactfully educate customers and relocate
• Administer and maintain mobile devices through the use of management software

Who should apply?

• High school graduation or a GED
• At least 4 years of information technology experience installing, programming and maintaining security/surveillance networks operating on Windows based Operating System Servers
• At least 4 years of experience in the design and installation of Internet Protocol (IP) based network infrastructure equipment such as network routers, switches, hubs, and fiber optic and CAT5 and CAT6 cabling to support voice, video, and data network circuits, and communications
• At least 4 years of experience with Windows Server Operating Systems

Preferred Education, Experience or Certifications

• A+ Certification
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Analyst (MCSA) Certification
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Certification
• Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification
