Welcome to Land, Buildings & Real Estate:
Land, Buildings & Real Estate (LBRE) is the operational core of Stanford University’s physical campus. LBRE constructs and maintains the Stanford campus, where advancements across the academic spectrum are made possible. Our work is founded upon the collective value of dedication, innovation, expertise, teamwork, and continuous improvement. We are committed to serving the university’s academic mission, as well as preserving and enhancing Stanford’s 8,180 acres, and pride ourselves on supporting the teaching and research of the university as “Caretakers of a Legacy.”
Our Team
We have divided 10 million square feet of academic buildings into 4 districts (A through D) to manage the delivery of building maintenance services. This enables the District staff to know their buildings well and focus on the occupants to better address their needs.
District D is responsible for the preservation, engineering, construction, and maintenance of many unique buildings around Stanford University, including the historic Main Quad, Encina Hall, Hoover Institution, Memorial Auditorium, Littlefield, and Stanford in Washington. Notable recent projects include historical exterior preservations of Memorial Auditorium & Encina Commons, Main Quad historical paver replacements, Memorial Church stained glass window restorations, and Hoover Tower cleaning/restoration. District D is also involved in many building accessibility projects, classroom renewal management, and mechanical & electrical retrofits for energy savings.
