SIUE Head Start is accepting applications for the position of Social/Emotional Coach (Program Assistant). This position is responsible for promoting the quality of social/emotional well-being from the perspectives of students, families and the staff. This position provides on-sight early childhood education classroom behavior management supports, including for those children who demonstrate atypical or challenging behaviors. The Social/Emotional Coach provides professional development reflective of the Pyramid Model throughout all program options. Furthermore, the Social/Emotional Coach provides training and technical assistance to teaching teams, home visitors, parents and administrative staff regarding mental health and social/emotional well-being in all program options. This position supports reflect compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and provides coaching for effective early childhood education classroom management and creation of positive learning environments. Additionally, the successful candidate conducts on-site observations and facilitates consultations to address teachers, children and families’ individual needs and assists teaching teams and teacher practices that promote mental health and age-appropriate social/emotional development. Further duties will be added based on the needs and goals of the department.
