Our parent cooperative school is currently looking for an experienced Kindergarten/PreK Teacher!

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Plan and carry out a curriculum that targets different areas of child development—such as language, motor, and social skills—and that is centered on creative and interactive learning.
· Develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest, and play time. Organize activities so children can learn about the world, explore interests, and develop talents.
· Prepare children for first grade by introducing concepts they will explore further in elementary school.
· Keep records of each students’ progress, routines, and interests. Prepare for and conduct a minimum of two parent/teacher conferences per school year.
· Keep parents informed about the class overall via weekly emailed updates.
· Assist with and encourage student independence with meal times, hand washing, bathroom visits, and dressing/undressing for outside time.
· Assist with inside clean-up of classrooms and playground throughout the school day.
· Prepare for the start of each day to ensure a successful and thoughtful class experience.
· Prepare for the start of school each year, including: interviewing prospective families, reaching out to welcome families prior to the school year, and preparing your classroom.
· Collaborate with other teachers and staff to plan multi-class lessons.
· Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
· Participate in activities outside of the school day (e.g. board meetings, staff meetings, fundraisers, planning, classroom organization).
Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate:
· Knowledge of whole child development.
· Proven experience assessing children’s developing skills, to include academic, communicative, motor, and social skills.
· Strong understanding of the importance of play in a child’s development, and of the importance of parents in the child’s educational process.
· Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
· Progressive methods of handling challenging behavior.
· Ability to work as part of a team.
REQUIREMENTS
· Preference will be given to candidates holding a valid State of Idaho Early Childhood Education Certificate.
· Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or equivalent experience required.
· 3+ years of previous teaching experience required; 5+ years preferred.
· Register with Idaho STARS and participate in the professional development system.
· Meet all training and certification requirements for child care licensing.
· Maintain current Infant/Child & Adult CPR and First Aid.
· Pass an enhanced criminal background check including fingerprinting, as required by the State of Idaho.
Must have the physical abilities to perform the following job duties:
· hear the conversational voice with or without a hearing aid
· see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses
· speak and be understood under normal circumstances
· lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds
· use arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including outside playground time and evacuation of the building during emergencies
