Job Description:
PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Prospect
Development, the Prospect Research Coordinator will provide specialized, high-quality prospect research and analysis using a variety of
sources and strategies to provide accurate, timely, and strategic data and information to the Advancement fundraising staff relative to
prospective donors with an emphasis on major gift prospects. The Prospect Research Coordinator will create prospect profiles and reports on
potential donors by using electronic resources and publications and provide extensive analysis and data in reports. The Prospect Research
Coordinator will partner with External Relations and Institutional Advancement (ERIA) staff to help deepen relationships with Scripps
College constituents and secure philanthropic support for the College’s mission.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Prospect Research
Responsible for
researching, collecting, compiling, and saving background materials and research profiles on alumnae, current and former parents, friends,
and potential contributors to Scripps.
Conduct proactive research to identify new potential major and principal gift
donors.
Respond to specific research requests from Regional Fundraisers, Director of Development, AVP, VP, Leadership Annual
Giving, and Engagement teams.
Develop profiles on trustee prospects for use by the Nominations and Governance
committee.
Develop profiles on incoming NFA families.
Support portfolio hygiene maintenance and prospect
management strategy activities.
Collaborate and strategize with the Philanthropy team to assess additional information,
needs, and effectiveness of research.
Assist with locating missing addresses and phone numbers for constituents as requested
and in support of the advancement services team.
Identify potential prospects from the wealth screening database and other
sources and qualify them for fundraiser assignment.
Scan various publications, discussion lists, websites, and electronic
news alerts for information, trends, and people who could be of interest to the Philanthropy staff and the Nominations and Governance
committee.
Utilize a wide range of resources for research, including publications, online databases, community resources,
existing files and records, and networking opportunities.
Utilize data driven analytics and targeted research to guide
movement in a strategic donor pipeline.
Prospect Management
Monitor timeliness and check the
accuracy of all substantive and non-substantive actions entered in the database and request clarification when
required.
Distribute bi-weekly dashboards.
Meet with members of Philanthropy team to review and discuss
prospect management protocols.
Collaborate with the fundraising and engagement teams using information gathered to deepen
relationships with existing prospects.
Document Management and Meetings
Manage donor and
prospect research profiles primarily through digital copies.
Implement procedures necessary to streamline use of one
organized, comprehensive filing system for ERIA and/or board of trustees’ offices as assigned.
Attend departmental and
divisional meetings as required.
Active support for the College’s Principles of Community and Principles of Diversity in the
performance of job duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities of the position.
Minimum of two years of experience working with Advancement
Services and/or Prospect Management is preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience working in higher education and/or non-profit is
preferred.
At least two years of working with a CRM database is preferred.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:
This is a regular, full-time,
benefits-eligible, non-exempt position.
The regular hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Hours may vary due to
the needs of the College or department. May require some evening and weekend work and travel.
Hourly rate range: $22.00-$24.50. The
hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal
equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
