Saltwater Bakeshop Hiring for Bakery FOH / Customer Service Job at San Mateo, CA Full Time

Saltwater Bakeshop opened in 2018 and specializes in croissants and sourdough bread. We sell at several farmers markets in SF and have a handful of wholesale accounts as well. We have gathered quite a loyal and enthusistic clientel at the markets. Looking for a friendly person to join our small team, ideally someone who will be excited to be part of the farmers market community.

About the job: The current opening is for a part time farmers market associate who can work Saturdays and Sundays. The ideal candidate will be able to pick up the van from our kitchen space in San Mateo, will be comfortable driving to San Francisco to work a farmers market shift and completing some small wholesale deliveries along the way. Willing to consider candidates who can only work one day but ideally looking for someone to work both Saturdays and Sundays.

The typical shift is 6:30am – 3:15 pm. We always have two people working at the markets, so upon arrival you and another employee will unload the van, set up the market stall, and get ready for a busy day of selling bread – cashiering, packing orders, talking to customers, etc. And then of course packing up and loading out at the end of the day.

The hourly rate for this job is $16.99 /hr but our staff typically averages $26.99 /hr including tips.

Requirements:

• Positive and friendly attitude
• Reliability and punctuality
• Communication skills – must be able to advocate for your needs and wants in the job and communicate them with us, maintain healthy communication with coworkers, and effectively communicate with customers
• Ability to stand for 8 hours and lift up to 50 lbs
• Current CA drivers license and ability to occasionally commute to San Mateo is a plus
• Experience in the food industry is a plus but not required
• Current CA Food Handler’s card (can be obtained within 30 days of starting)
• Proof of covid vaccine
