The College of Education and Counseling at Saint Martin’s University is seeking a dynamic, equity-focused Director for its PhD in Leadership Studies program. We seek an innovative leader who values diverse perspectives and experiences, who recognizes the role that leadership plays in affecting meaningful social change, and who has strong management and administrative skills.
This is a tenure-line faculty position with a planned start date of July 1, 2022. The Director of the PhD in Leadership Studies should have a terminal degree in Leadership Studies and a track record of excellent teaching and leadership. The director will teach within the program and manage all aspects of the work.
We are open to a range of professional and lived leadership and professional experiences, but for this position we are especially interested in scholars and practitioners who have focused their leadership in the following areas: issues of social justice, praxis, and/or advocacy; issues surrounding the building of sustainable and meaningful relationships with community; and issues of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion in any professional field. Leaders with these work experiences and research interests are highly encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those with experience in managing or engaging with Leadership programs and those who have fostered collaborative, supportive and inclusive environments.
Successful candidates will have a majority of these qualifications:
· A scholarly focus in Leadership Studies is preferred.
· Lived leadership experiences including community and/or service experiences that demonstrate a commitment to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
· Engagement with the current body of research on leadership.
· Program management experience, including strong organizational and administrative skills.
· Experience with equity-focused curricular reform, including course development or restructuring with an equity focus.
· Evidence of a demonstrated commitment to successful teaching and scholarly activity. This includes evidence of culturally and linguistically sustaining and emancipatory teaching.
· Student advising experience and dedication to student support.
· Demonstrated attention to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion across leadership, teaching, scholarship, and service.
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
