General Statement of Responsibilities
Instructors are primarily
responsible for organizing and carrying out structured learning processes for students in their academic and programmatic unit. In
addition, instructors participate in the full range of professional and college-related activities including student advising, curriculum
development, professional growth, departmental and college-wide meetings, committee activity, and community involvement. Proficiency in
written and oral English and Spanish is preferred for this position.
Supervision Received
The Dean is
responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the Vice President of Instruction. The Dean confers
with the Department Chair in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels.

Criteria
Education: A Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education,
Child Development, or related field is required.
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted:
accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final
candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.
Experience: Three years
of experience working in an early childhood and elementary education settings is required. Postsecondary experience, including teaching,
advising, and curriculum development, is preferred.
Knowledge of: Contemporary knowledge of the following
Early Childhood and/or Elementary education subjects: child development infancy through middle childhood , trauma-informed practice in
educational settings, developmentally appropriate practice and play-based learning, guiding children in group settings, social-emotional
development and building resilience, supporting children with specialized needs, equity/diversity/inclusion in education, and building
partnerships with families. Curriculum development for adult learners and use of a variety of different pedagogical methods including
interactive lecture, large and small group activity, multimedia usage, reflective practice, peer learning, discussion, and engaging
web-based instruction; contemporary community college mission, its role in higher education, and its diverse student population; the role of
accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act; computer applications for communication and learning, including word processing,
the Internet, online instruction, social media, spreadsheets, and multi-media presentations.
Ability to:
Speak and write in both Spanish and English preferred; communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues and students; work
collaboratively as a member of an academic department; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in the classroom
including online instruction and hybrid learning; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth; demonstrate excitement and
enthusiasm in teaching in the subject area; adapt to a variety of teaching situations, including lectures, group activities, individual
instruction, distance learning, and hybrid learning; work and interact effectively with staff, students, administrators and others of
various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds; participate in curriculum and program development; and participate in the student advising
program and college-wide efforts to improve student retention and success. Pass a criminal background check.
Licenses: For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License and
proof of an acceptable driving record are required. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon
driver’s license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required
to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires
some mobility including the ability to move materials less than 5 pounds weekly, and 5-25 pounds occasionally, and 25-60 pounds rarely.
This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities. Manual dexterity and coordination are required for less than half
of the daily work period (about 40%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key,
telephones, and other standard office equipment. May also be required to sit for long periods of time in meetings or traveling between
counties.

While performing the duties of this position, the
employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the
work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate.

This is a Full-Time Faculty position (100%, 10 months/year) in the Early Childhood & Education
Department. Starting compensation will be in accordance
with initial step placement per the current Faculty

Public Service Loan Forgiveness
Rogue Community College is
considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan
