Job Description – Position Overview

Seeking a an elementary teacher with upper-level elementary experience for a private homeschool teaching opportunity with 3 to 10 students in varied school levels. Seeking a candidate who is flexible, driven, and capable of helping students excel beyond grade level.

The teacher is responsible for all curriculum development. We are looking for bright, energetic, and dedicated applicants, who are passionate about their work and have an optimistic view of the capacities of their students. Qualified applicants must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in applicable field of study.

The teacher promotes the desired philosophy and educational objectives of the employer. They support and maintain a strong ethical code and will directly aid in creating an educational program which reflects the vision of the employer, they must be flexible and willing to implement non-traditional ideas while still maintaining the highest in educational standards.

Most importantly this role requires flexibility and vision to create a unique schooling experience for a small group of children. On site and distance learning will be required.

Specific Duties

• Communicates with students in an understandable, effective way about daily lessons and instructions.
• Establishes clear learning objectives and develops these with their students.
• Develops flexible, effective teaching tools and methods to help students learn.
• Creates and assigns learning projects, essays, tests, quizzes and homework for students, then grades their performance accurately on these assignments.
• Works with students individually if they need extra help and support in their coursework.
• Keeps current with all credentials and degrees in accordance with all accrediting and regulatory bodies.
• Conducts regular team meetings with support staff.
• Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Maintains accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
• Updates all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.
• Prepares required reports on students and activities.
• Plans, prepares, and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.

Classroom environment

• Uses and promotes positive guidance techniques.
• Communicates with children on their developmental level.
• Establishes routines with smooth transition periods.
• Encourages children to be independent.
• Designs appropriate room arrangement to support goals of the program.
• Maintains a safe & healthy environment and notifies the administration of maintenance issues.
• Maintains classroom inventory and assists in the purchase of equipment and supplies in accordance with classroom budget.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education
• Texas State certification in teaching.
• Proven experience as an elementary school teacher.
• A thorough understanding of best practices in teaching.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organized, flexible disposition.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
• Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
• Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
• Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and state.

Physical requirements: The essential physical requirements for this job include:

• Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, sit on the floor and rise from the floor without adult assistance.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Pay: $65,000.00 – $73,000.00 per year
