Position Summary
This is a temporary opportunity for a part-time (0.5FTE) position. The anticipated duration is through December 20, 2024.
The Adult Basic Skills Navigator is responsible for providing a broad range of services in support of students enrolled in the ESOL program (English for Speakers of Other Languages). Incumbents initiate student contact to ensure student success, provides career and vocational advising, admissions advising; researches and evaluates available community services in assisting students at removing barriers, and develops and implements recruitment, retention, and transition strategies. Designs and delivers student success workshops.
This position works collaboratively with ESOL program faculty, district department chairs, Adult Basic Skills Navigators, dean, and ABS program director to develop strategies for keeping at-risk students in class. Works collaboratively with the Newberg Center director and front desk staff. Serves as liaison and works collaboratively with ESOL district partners. Delivers ESOL district orientation for ESOL levels 1-3 and supports students through the registration process. Works collaboratively with other stakeholders to facilitate and address student and program needs. Coordinate meetings to discuss and encourage retention and completion of students at-risk. Address attrition risk factors identified by the team (e.g., repeated courses, SAP concerns, credit overload, etc.)

$25.46/hour to $27.28/hour (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Evening hours are required. Occasional weekend hours may be required.
Physical Requirements:
Occasional lifting of marketing materials and display units used for college/high school fairs required. Travel between campuses and various remote sites requires the ability to drive and use of a personal vehicle.
