Chair, Department of Biology and Department of Chemistry
Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for
the Chair of Department of Biology and Department of Chemistry within the School of Science and Mathematics in the College of Arts and
Sciences. This Chair will serve as the chief administrative officer of the Department of Biology and Department of Chemistry, providing
leadership for both departments and is responsible for the respective departments academic, personnel, facility, and financial affairs of
b. The Chair will also hold faculty rank and will be responsible for teaching, service, and scholarship.
The successful
applicant will have a completed terminal degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field from a nationally accredited institution of higher
learning. The applicant must possess academic leadership and administrative skills, as well as be proficient in the development of positive
professional relationships with organizational and external constituents. Further, at least 5 years of teaching, research, and scholarship
that is complimentary with existing department faculty is required.
The School of Science and Mathematics is comprised of the
Department of Biology, Department of Chemistry, and Department of Mathematics and Physics. The Department of Biology and Department
Chemistry both offer undergraduate and graduate degrees. Biology with 10 undergraduate emphasis possibilities and a master’s degree;
Chemistry with 7 undergraduate emphasis areas and master’s degree offerings in both Chemistry and Polymer Chemistry. Both departments,
