The Photographer/Photo Editor, in collaboration with departments College-wide, captures and maintains a repository of high-impact still images to convey the College’s brand and to illustrate its compelling news and feature stories. The Photographer/Photo Editor works closely with Public Relations and Marketing editors and project managers to identify photography needs, coordinate production schedules, and deliver timely visuals for use in marketing, press releases, news publications (internal and external), and social media platforms. The Photographer/Photo Editor will also hire, supervise, and mentor the department’s student photographers.

Qualifications
Education:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Photography, Fine Arts, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related discipline, or associate degree with substantial work experience directly related to the position. (Minimum)
Experience:
-Three (3) years of related work experience in commercial photography and/or photojournalism, photo editing, and digital asset management. (Minimum)
Abilities and Skills:
Minimum:
-Excellent photography skills, with a keen eye for composition, lighting, and storytelling.
-Proficiency in digital photography techniques, including editing and post-processing.
-Strong knowledge of various camera equipment and accessories.
-Proficiency with Adobe software (Photoshop and Lightroom).
-Good organizational skills to manage a digital asset management system efficiently.
-Familiarity with database software (e.g., FileMaker or other photo database applications).
-Possession of a current FAA Remote Pilot Certificate for commercial drone photography within six months of hire.
-Sufficient familiarity with technological advances in photography to recommend equipment upgrades.
-Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
-Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with other creative professionals to bring jobs from conception to completion.
-Ability to adapt to challenging and unpredictable situations while maintaining composure and delivering high-quality work.
-Excellent time-management skills to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
-Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
-Flexibility and adaptability to work in various settings and on different types of photography assignments.
-Knowledge of current trends in marketing and news photography and the ability to capture images that align with the College’s brand and target audiences.
-Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
Essential:-Work with the supervisor and project managers to determine photography needs for news, marketing, and recruitment campaigns.
-Establish plans and schedule photo shoots to meet photo needs and requests.
-Photograph people, activities, and facilities to meet photo needs and requests.
-Gather and report accurate IDs and related information for use in photo captions.
-When required, secure signed photo releases from subjects.
-Provide technical and creative expertise in lighting, composing, and photographing College subjects.
-Collaborate with departments and schools to provide creative input and technical expertise.
-Collaborate with graphic designers and content creators to create visually appealing marketing materials.
-Submit all materials to supervisor, project manager, or editor for review before release.
-Maintain an online photo database, including photo curation and tag/metadata management, for department and College-wide use.
-Hire, train, and supervise student photographers for photo assignments and database maintenance.
-Collaborate with support staff for scheduling photo shoots and related activities.
-Maintain and organize photography equipment and ensure its proper functionality, recommending equipment upgrades, as needed.
-Stay updated on industry trends in photography, incorporating innovative techniques and styles consistent with brand guidelines.
-Review and update brand photography style with department leadership, as needed.
Physical Standards and Special Job Features
Physical Standards:
-May encounter various physical environments in photographing campus activities and facilities.
-Heavy lifting of photographic equipment (camera, lighting and other equipment) not to exceed 50 lbs.
Special Job Features:
-Occasional evening and weekend work required to support College events and activities.
-Occasional off-campus travel required, including other campus locations.
-May be required to use personal vehicle for work assignments, with mileage reimbursement at the current College rate and in accordance with College policy.
-Candidates for position must present a portfolio of their photography work.
-This position is subject to a background check.
Pay TransparencyBased on minimum education and experience qualifications the yearly salary range is $47,000 to $56,000.College Statement
