JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The College of Agricultural Sciences Office of Grants and Contracts is seeking to hire an energetic Proposal and Award Generalist during a time of exciting change and innovation within the department. The candidate will be an integral part of this vibrant team’s goal to become a model of “best-in-class” and must be able to embrace and participate in change processes and dedicated to continual learning and improvement.
The purpose of this position is to provide post-award research administration expertise to a set of departments within the College of Agricultural Sciences. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Grants and Contracts/Lead Post-Award. This position will perform work activities in a large volume, fast paced, complex, detailed, and multifaceted environment that requires multi-tasking expertise, managing conflicting priorities often on a deadline, timely work production, and the ability to solve complex problems.
The selected individual’s job responsibilities will include, reviewing and processing grant and contractual awards. Responsible for accurate and timely award set-ups and revisions. This position may serve as a liaison with sponsors and other University offices on behalf of faculty and staff. The successful candidate will also complete tasks such as:
This position will:
Assist staff with prior approval requirements for changing aspects of a fund
Review award terms and conditions
Assist in the completion of all closeout procedures as necessary for timely financial close-out of sponsored projects
Assist with the preparation of financial reports and invoices for sponsored projects
Serve as liaison between the departmental staff, project administrative unit staff, and Office of Sponsored Programs
Education and Experience:
This position will be filled as a level 3. Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with managing email, electronic research administration programs such as SIMBA, Excel, Word, SIMS Budgets, and sponsor specific submission systems is preferred. Successful graduation of the ACOR Certification and Education Series (ACES) program preferred. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and familiarity with a broad spectrum of granting agencies, foundations and industry sponsors. Qualifying for and maintenance of delegated signature authority is vital to this position.
