JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Student Consultant Program is a pedagogical partnership between undergraduate students and faculty intended to improve classroom instruction. Student Consultants work 3-4 hours a week in a paid role analyzing, affirming, and, as appropriate, supporting the revision of classroom practice in one of the faculty partner’s courses, with the goal of maximizing engagement and learning for all involved. Student and faculty partnerships take a range of approaches to their collaboration, starting with a focus on classroom practice and often expanding to consider curriculum, assessment, and other dimensions of pedagogy. Student Consultants attend their faculty partner’s class once each week, taking detailed observation notes focused on pedagogical issues he or she identifies. The Student Consultant then types up their observation notes and delivers these in a weekly meeting with their faculty partner. Student Consultants also participate in a weekly, semi-structured, one-hour discussion with other Student Consultants.
