The candidate will possess broad knowledgeand ability in both in vitro and in vivo techniques relevant todrug discovery research and elucidation of mechanism of action. With limited supervisory guidance, thecandidate will generally follow established experimental procedures and operatelaboratory equipment in support of both exploratory activities and fullresearch programs. From time to time, the candidate will help develop newprotocols and will assist in training other lab staff as needed. Experimental prowess should correlate with veryhigh-quality data creation and helpful visualizations, together with accuratenotebook & records. Oklahoma StateUniversity and Community
OklahomaState University Center for Health Sciences was founded in 1972 as the OklahomaCollege of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery and became a branch institution ofOklahoma State University in 1988. In 2017the NCWR was publicly launched and in 2019 was the recipient of nearly $200Mfrom the legal settlement between the state of Oklahoma and Purdue Pharma. In 2022, the Oklahoma legislature awarded anARPA grant of $50M for the NCWR to build a pharmaceutical research facility indowntown Tulsa, which is in progress. These funds are being leveraged to advance the science of addiction andpain, so that NCWR researchers and clinicians can rapidly translate new treatmentmodalities to patient care. To further acceleratethe mission, the NCWR formed a strategic research partnership with the Centerof Excellence for Addiction Studies at the University of Arizona, where there arealready joint research projects underway. In the Tulsa region, the NCWR also hopes to recruit new biotech industryas collaborators and at least two new companies have already formed here.
