Job Summary: THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION
The National Center for Wellness and Recovery (NCWR) is currently expanding its medicinal chemistry team with openings at all levels, ranging from mid- and entry-level positions. Preferred experience with molecule design, organic synthesis, purification, combinatorial chemistry, and spectroscopy (NMR, IR, LC/MS) are highly preferred. The most ideal candidates will have experience in heterocyclic synthesis techniques, chiral synthetic methods, and purification techniques, and will have a strong working knowledge of the supporting literature relevant to synthetic methodologies. Regardless of level, significant bench-work is expected from all candidates.
The National Center for Wellness and Recovery (NCWR) at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences (OSU-CHS) was publicly launched in 2017 with a mission to inspire hope for people suffering with chronic pain and substance use disorders through treatment and research. The NCWR was the recipient of nearly $200M from Purdue Pharma as part of their settlement with Oklahoma and the funds are being leveraged to advance the science of addiction and pain. Currently, we are making multi-million-dollar investments in neuroscience research and drug discovery competencies including medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, animal models, and pharmacology. We are uniquely organized within OSU-CHS organization to allow researchers to be highly focused on the urgent mission of the NCWR as a priority. NCWR researchers and scientists are expected to seek ways to rapidly translate new mechanism-based treatment modalities to patient care. The NCWR is currently building a 30,000 square foot pharmaceutical research facility as part of a new medical campus in downtown Tulsa. The NCWR endorses a culture of teaching, learning, and collaboration, thus creating opportunities for our people to grow in their career through direct interactions on multidisciplinary teams with colleagues. This is an opportunity to join a well-funded and growing team that is focused on making a positive impact in the lives of those suffering from addiction and/or chronic pain.
