Ohio Wesleyan University, a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and located just 20 miles north of Columbus, is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Director for the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. Overall, the ideal candidate should be passionate about promoting diversity, inclusivity, and cultural understanding on campus and have the skills to effectively engage with a diverse student population.

Job Summary:
• Assist in the implementation of restorative practice interventions, as needed, to address developing issues, occurrences, and conflicts involving students/student communities on campus;
• Develop collaborative working relationships with colleagues and community partners in the areas of intersectionality, identity, and diversity knowledge, practice, and policy;
• Participate in department/division activities including meetings, retreats, and staff development;
• Individually and collectively, counsels, advises, and consults with academics and staff to emphasize the need of creating an inclusive, appreciating, and inviting workplace;
Responsibilities and duties:
• Direct supervision of 1-3 undergraduate student employees. Students working in support of the specified programming areas of this function, as well as students supporting marketing, social media, and/or digital content development for the entire center, are examples of direct reporting;
• Oversees campus-wide outreach and awareness initiatives, as well as campus speakers, workshops, and educational sessions that provide a variety of learning and development opportunities for students. Examples:
• Serve as the assistant director for the summer Bridge program;
• Provide oversight for the yearlong follow up for the Bridge program participants;
Factors contributing success:
• Required: Bachelor’s degree
• Required: Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
• Required: Current and extensive knowledge in the field of social justice, equity, inclusion, diversity, and cultural competency
• Preferred: Demonstrated leadership in initiating and implementing programming among student groups/organizations
• Preferred: Direct advising experience with students, student programs and/or student organizations
• Preferred: Experience in the higher education setting
• Preferred: 1-3 years of relevant experience including Graduate Assistantships by start date
• Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Canva
