As Director, Employee Relations for North America, you will liaise with North American country and regional leadership and associates of all levels, to manage the resolution of Employee Relations (ER) matters across the region. This includes, identifying strategic priorities for the region in line with organizational strategy, reviewing ER allegations and personally conducting (or overseeing) investigations to drive objective and high-quality ER investigations.
In addition, you will foster a healthy work environment across several sites in the US by aligning organizational policies with legal requirements and in collaboration with other P&O (HR) colleagues establishing the proper application of policies.
In collaboration with our Ethics, Risk & Compliance (ERC), Learning and DEI organizations, you will be responsible for P&O mandatory training (e.g. sexual harassment, non-discrimination and anti-retaliation).
Your additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:
•Central point of contact for NA Employee Relations (ER) “SpeakUp” matters. Responsible for managing the investigations process for ER-related allegations (e.g., discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and/or other complex investigations), in partnership with ERC, Global Security and Legal Departments.
•Conduct investigations into central matters for the region, as determined by the SpeakUp Office. Central matters represent a higher risk to Sandoz from a reputational, business, financial, legal and/or quality/safety perspective.
•Ensure alignment with ERC, Legal, as well as federal and state laws, government regulations and agency guidelines as they apply to ER matters.
•Promote positive labor relations by effectively interacting with local associates to understand regional requirements, conduct local investigations, facilitate the sharing of best practices, and support local ER investigators through mentoring.
•Conduct trend analysis and elevate matters and proposed actions to senior leadership.
•Build ER capability across the organization, including P&O, to improve associate interaction, reduce workplace conflict and ultimately increase productivity.
•In partnership with our ERC team, conduct the P&O risk assessment and develop corresponding action plan
•Ensure compliance of organizational policies with legal requirements
•Ensure maintenance of organizational policies and training records
•Define training curriculum and learning system
This opportunity is located at the Sandoz Princeton, NJ site, and will not have the ability to be located remotely. Preference will be given to local candidates within a commutable distance to the Princeton location who do not require relocation.
Minimum requirements
What you’ll bring to the role:
•Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Labor/Industrial Relations, Human Resources Management, or related field. Master’s degree in a related field of study is preferred.
•Minimum of 10 years of related experience required (e.g., HR Generalist expertise and investigative experience; process improvement initiatives).
•Knowledge of HR regulations, local labor laws and/or practices, and experience with HRIS tools required.
•Strong knowledge of HR management principles required.
•Requires demonstrated leadership experience including exceptional verbal, written and communication skills, experience presenting to senior leaders and communication of difficult messages to a wide range of associates.
•Requires the highest level of integrity, confidentiality, sound judgement, empathy, and objectivity.
•Experience working within a healthcare or pharmaceutical environment is preferred.
•Experience with change management, facilitation and navigating through large matrix environments is required.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $174,400 and $261,600/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
