The Associate Director, Launch Excellence and Competitive Readiness will support the Director, Launch Excellence and Competitive Readiness in developing and implementing Novartis US Pharma-wide enterprise capabilities, processes and governance for new product launches and competitive readiness. This individual will be an active partner in engaging with multiple stakeholders across multiple functions to establish and embed robust, agile, and consistent practices to launch excellence and competitive readiness in a matrixed organization. Key business partners include product general management and product teams, the oncology capabilities team, the Global Launch Excellence team, among others.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Develop, manage, and lead a consistent and robust launch discipline, with supporting processes and governance structure, in close collaboration with US Oncology capabilities team, Global Launch Excellence, the US product organization and US functions
• Develop, manage, and lead a consistent and robust approach to Competitive Readiness (CR), in close collaboration with the US product organization’s CR leads and the US Oncology capabilities team
• Create, prioritize, promote, implement key Launch Excellence and Competitive Readiness initiatives to roll out new approaches, build capabilities and implement change across IM US, in partnership with all relevant US and Global Novartis team members
• Work with internal launch collaborators to ensure successful and timely launch process management and completion of launch readiness tasks (standardized approach across brands)
• Lead Novartis US Pharma-wide planning for Launch Readiness Reviews (LRR) and meetings for launch products and ensure alignment of LRR calendars with other key process-es, in particular Integrated Product Strategy
• Capture launch lessons and best practices in collaboration with launch teams; build up and curate central repository of institutional knowledge around US Launch Excellence
• Identify, recruit and stand-up network of internal Novartis launch leaders and external launch experts, to be engaged regularly and as needed to support launch efforts, promote new launch approaches and related initiatives
• Provide daily operational, business planning and strategic communications support to the Director, Launch Excellence and Competitive Readiness and ad-hoc operational, business planning and critical communications support to the VP of Product Operations and Enterprise Strategy
This position will be located at the East Hanover site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will require 0% travel as defined by the business (domestic and/ or international). Please note that this role would not provide relocation and only local candidates will be considered.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $144,000 and $216,000/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Minimum requirements
What you’ll bring to the role:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required in relevant area, MBA preferred
Required Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or the healthcare consulting industry inclusive of at least 3 years of US commercial experience in marketing or market access in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment
• Proactive and curious approach, with excellent listening skills and drive to seek opportunities to improve processes, systems and strategies
• Demonstrated critical and strategic thinking, with ability to challenge status quo and lead creative problem-solving
• Resilient and can-do attitude, with a strong drive for initiating and implementing change and ability to navigate ambiguity
• Strong analytical skills and an ability to generate insights and develop relevant action plans
• Experience working collaboratively across the matrix, with influencing skills and ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in difficult situations
• Experience in project management and translation of strategy into execution with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to simplify complex concepts/strategies and “tell a story” orally and in writing
Preferred:
• Experience in product launch and lifecycle management
• Experience in multiple therapeutic areas relevant to Novartis US Pharma (e.g., cardiovascular, immunology, neurosciences) and/or in different functions (e.g., marketing, market access, medical, sales) in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment
