The Northrop Grumman Space Components, Deployables Operating Unit is a leading supplier of advanced Deployable Reflectors, Solar Arrays, Boom and other structures and mechanisms for Spacecraft and other space-related applications. In addition, the unit also designs and produces microwave EW and slotted waveguide antennas for aircraft. We are seeking a Program Manager to support operations in our Oxnard, CA, facility.
Overview
Reporting to the Deployables Director of Programs or Program Management Product Leader in Oxnard, the Program Manager 1 will be responsible for managing key programs within the Oxnard business portfolio, notably large Deployable Reflectors and Booms. This PM1 will require technical expertise, strong leadership potential and collaborative people skills with the proven ability experience to work within a technically dynamic, high-growth, fast-paced and strategically important operating unit.
Responsibilities
Lead and direct cross-functional engineering teams during proposal, design, manufacturing, and delivery phases of products in development and production phases
Transition designs to manufacturing, working with the technical team to identify ways to streamline manufacturing and assembly processes, achieving required delivery rates and reduced cost targets
Develop and execute to project budgets and schedules, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts
Work with suppliers and be able to articulate project requirements
Brief internal and external customers and leadership on progress of work assigned
Lead failure root cause analysis and corrective actions as needed
Track and report on program performance metrics including EACs and schedule performance
Establish milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules
Identify program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications
Work closely with leadership to ensure full compliance with Division, Corporate, and Government policies
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline
1 – 3+ years of Program or Project Management experience or similar (e.g. Lead IPT (Integrated Product Team), or Lead NPT (New Product Team) or Systems Engineering lead
Experience in design for manufacturing and transition to production programs
Gated design development experience (PDR, CDR)
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Proven analytical, technical, strategic and problem-solving skills
Proficient in MS Office Suite and MS Project
US Citizenship is a requirement for employment
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Space Deployable Structures and Mechanisms
Working Environment & Physical Demands:
Travel to customer site up to 5-10% of the time both domestic and international as required
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of times and light physical effort as required
