The ideal location for this role is our East Hanover, NJ site but remote work may be possible (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. If associate is remote, all home office expenses and any travel/lodging to specific East Hanover, NJ site for periodic live meetings will be at the employee’s expense. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager.
The Scientific Knowledge Design lead role is a fully integrated partner in the medical strategy team and collaborates across US and global medical organizations. Team accountabilities include scientific content creation for external communications to audiences related to new launches / indications for key brands and/or related disease area(s) that are aligned with US prioritization. The team is also accountable for multichannel medical engagement and communication strategy and execution. This role also is responsible for financial and contractual aspects of projects with 3rd party communication vendors and some external HCP engagement.
Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
•Gives strategic feedback to medical channel engagement plans that includes but is not limited to:
• strategy, gap and competitor analysis;
• leads workshops around compound LCM and scientific platform;
• gives strategic feedback to US and global medical communication plans
• Leads development of content and communication strategy for results, key data flow customized across customer segments and communication platforms
• Leads non-promotional review and approval process as project owner and/or approver through the MLR review process
• Accountable for asset accuracy and ensures compliance with all legal/compliance/regulatory and Novartis requirements for communications including but not limited to FDA, NVS policies/guidance’s and relevant SOPs and WPs
• Contributes to commercial and medical launch readiness strategy and planning. Leads development of scientific platform statements (lexicon) and informative content to support launch activities
• In collaboration with the Congress and Customer Engagement teams, leads key content creations activities for US meetings and select key regional based US congresses
• Leads development of content for and engagement (as needed) of medical authorities and HCPs at:
• i.e., Scientific research forums; clinical and product theaters; digital (direct and indirect); HCP forums; speaker programs
• Oversees all financial and contractual aspects of assigned projects with 3rd party medical communication vendors and some HCP engagement for Scientific Knowledge Design Lead activities
• Develops annual functional strategic plan and budgets for assigned product(s) and handles monthly spend within allocated budget

Role Requirements
What You Will Bring to the role:
• Advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD, MD or MS) required.
• Minimum 2 years in Pharma/Biotech industry.
• Prior 3rd party medical communication agency experience is preferred.
• Proficient level of understanding in drug development process, pharmaceutical business, including R & D process & objectives.
• Substantial expertise in scientific communication strategy and medical education activities preferred.
• Demonstrate ability to drive and implement strategy in own area and work closely with areas of the business to improve success of medical activities.
• Demonstrate ability to lead development of education materials and programs that support product launches.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, interpret and analyze data and develop communications to diverse audiences.
• Educate organization on emerging trends and policies that may significantly impact external scientific communication of medical content
• Demonstrate knowledge on using digital platforms for delivering content preferred

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $183,200 and $274,800 a year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
