Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director of Clinical Finance & Operations, Office Administrator, and Chair of the School of Allied Health and Communicative Disorders and/or his/her designee, perform office administrative duties and assist all visitors, students and callers with courtesy and professionalism. This employee supports the School of Allied Health and Communicative Disorders and is responsible for providing clerical support to all of the programs within the school. The employee is responsible for providing clerical support, creating and maintaining databases, supporting the completion of accreditation and university reports, and processing continuing education unit activity documents. This position must interact professionally and courteously to patients, faculty, students, and staff within all areas of AHCD including the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic and Physical Therapy Clinic. This position may work with various other departments within the university and must maintain positive, professional relationships with these areas. This individual utilizes all office machines, Electronic Health Records, Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, MyNIU, OnBase, Blackboard and other software to complete these duties. This employee must demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, cooperation, teamwork and good judgment in prioritizing assignments and meeting deadlines. The ability to work with constant interruption is a priority. The ability to multi-task and problem solve is essential. Being a team player, resourceful, helpful, and respectful are necessary. Making suggestions regarding changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness are welcomed and encouraged. Must commit to promoting work and learning environments that foster creativity and innovation that are inclusive, equitable, and welcoming. The employee must participate in cross-training for various areas across AHCD and develop skills to the level of competence to be able to fill in for absences and vacancies when needed.
The employee will provide a variety of support services to staff, students, academic faculty, clinical faculty, clinic clients, visitors, and community members. The ability to support both academic and clinical sides of AHCD programs is necessary. Duties performed may include but are not limited to filing, keyboarding, record processing, other general office and clinical support activities such as scheduling appointments and providing information to clients, students, clinicians, faculty, staff, and community members.
The School of Allied Health and Communicative Disorders supports programs that have both academic and clinical elements involved in educating future clinicians. Three clinics provide Audiology, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language services for fees and require support associated with the functions of academic and health care facilities. The employee will need to be able to apply knowledge of policies and procedures regarding client insurance, billing, account maintenance, collections, course scheduling support, student enrollment requests, admission information, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The work activities listed below summarize the major work activities of the employee in this position. This position provides support to the School of Allied Health and Communicative Disorders.
This employee reports to the Office Administrator and the Chair of the School of Allied Health and Communicative Disorders and/or his/her designee. This employee supports faculty and staff but does not provide academic advising nor oversee faculty schedules/activities. Attention to the sensitivity of data handled and timeliness of response is crucial in this position. Failure to provide these sensitive and timely responses potentially creates both legal issues and accreditation issues for the programs and the school. The work of this employee will be a strategic component of the overall School Allied Health and Communicative Disorders Program Improvement and Expansion efforts.

1.High school graduation or equivalent.
2.Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience comparable to the third level of this series.
