About the Department:

The Division of Human Resources encompasses the functional areas of employment, classification, compensation, organization design, benefits, employee relations, learning and organizational development, and human resources information management. These services are directed, managed, and provided by the division for over 4000 SHRA/staff employees, approximately 2000 EHRA professional and administrative employees, and 1800 faculty as well as a temporary workforce. The Division provides leadership to the university administration, managers, and employees by being a progressive and innovative provider of human resources services.
The Background Check Program provides guidance and services to hiring units and administrators in the submission, secure, review, and assessment of criminal, sex offender, credit, motor vehicle, and international background checks. The Program also is responsible for ensuring that educational credentials are appropriately verified and maintained. In addition, the Program has responsibility for ensuring compliance with the federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as applied to Commercial Drivers’ License holders at the University.
Essential Job Duties:
The UTS Background Check Program Assistant provides technical and programmatic support to the Background Check Program and acts as a program liaison for University Temporary Services staff and ensures the timely and accurate processing, review, and analysis/consideration of background check results for University-wide hiring efforts.
The Program Assistant leverages in-depth knowledge of the Background Check Program and UTS staffing needs of both the NCSU and UNC-Chapel Hill campus communities, including policies and procedures related to criminal, sex offender, credit, motor vehicle, and international checks as well as CDL holder program activities and compliance. In addition, the Program Assistant will be responsible for processing education verification requests through the National Student Clearinghouse and facilitating international evaluations through World Education Services for UTS hires.
