Overview
The Family Advocacy Clinician 1 provides general child and family advocacy, interventions, counseling support and prevention services to individuals at The Center For Family Safety and Healing. This clinician works under the supervision of an independently licensed supervisor when relevant, within the scope of their training or licensure, and consistent with hospital policies. This clinician upholds the fundamental principles and expectations defined in the agency partnership memorandum of understanding, and are accountable for maintaining productive partner relationships.

Responsibilities
Under the direction of their immediate supervisor, the Family Advocacy Clinician 1:
1. Provides general child and family advocacy, interventions, and counseling support and prevention to individuals who present to The Center for Family Safety and Healing either within the Child Assessment Center, the Home Visitation Programs, or related policy, education, intervention or prevention services.
a. Meet with families in their homes (or other identified community setting) to deliver services, provide parenting education, offer support, and problem solving skills daily.
b. Develop family service plans in collaboration with families that incorporate the families? strengths, visions, goals and priorities.
c. Utilize developmental screening instruments for children birth to age three.
d. Involve families as active team members in the screening, parenting education, ongoing assessments and intervention processes.
e. Educate families as to expected developmental milestones for their child as well as the importance of routine medical and health services.
f. Demonstrate understanding of basic knowledge of relevant federal and state legislation (IDEA, Part C) and regulations, as well as local county-specific HMG policies.
g. Link parents and children to appropriate resources within Franklin County.
h. Understand, appreciate and implement family-centered, linguistically and culturally appropriate approaches in familys everyday routines and activities.
i. Provide services which are culturally sensitive to the families being served.
j. Participate in peer supervision, group supervision, and individual supervision as required.
2. Is available to provide services within the community as appropriate and follows all hospital policies regarding off-site work. Maintains sound working knowledge of community resources.
3. Completes all required documentation and paperwork requirements in a competent, legible, and timely manner consistent with legal and agency policy or program mandates.
4. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with peers, supervisors, and partners.
5. Maintains ongoing professional development activities required to provide competent services and as defined by relevant licensing authorities, as well as continuing learning expectations required by NCH. Provides documentation of these activities to their supervisor in a timely manner.
6. Responds to emergency and crisis situations as required and consistent with departmental expectations.
7. Assures confidentiality of clients at all times and complies with related hospital privacy policies.
8. Understands and can articulate mandated reporting laws.
9. Participates in research activity as relevant to their scope of work.10. Maintains professional relationships with coworkers, assures a professional and organized work environment, and complies with general hospital policy.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. Mandated Reporting Requirements.
2. General knowledge of family violence and related concepts.
3. General human development information.
4. Ability to use email to type reports and related documentation, access Internet (Microsoft Office).
Bachelors degree in social work, human ecology, child development, education, or a related field.
Licensure preferred.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Note frequency as Constantly (67-100%), Frequently (34-66%) and Occasionally (0-33%) for each requirement.
