Napa Valley College is seeking two (2) Campus Service Officers
for the College Police Department. College Police supports the academic process and endeavors of all who use the college by creating an
environment which is as safe and crime free as possible.
This is a non-sworn position. The incumbent in this position will be
providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibilities for the enforcement of college parking rules and regulations;
assisting in departmental activities which minimize the frequency and/or severity of harmful incidents; and providing emergency care to
students and other individuals.
The position reports to the Chief of Police.
This is a full-time, 12-months-per-year,
classified position. The salary has an appropriate placement on range 6 of the current Classified Salary Schedule. The starting salary range
is $3,654 to $4,229/month, with future steps up to $5,142/month. Placement is made based on experience. The college offers a fringe benefit
package including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, employee assistance program, and public employee retirement system
membership.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a need to
occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform
the functions of the job include: administering first aid; operating standard office equipment and using pertinent software applications;
operating motor vehicles; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic
math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak
clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform
the functions of the job include: methods of investigation and record keeping.
ABILITY is required to schedule
activities and/or meetings; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide
variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also
required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize a variety of job-related
equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent
interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily
perform the functions of the job include: reacting quickly and calmly in emergency situations; determining proper course of action;
operating a motor vehicle in a safety manner; adapting to changing work priorities; communicating clearly with diverse groups; maintaining
confidentiality; working as part of a team; working with detailed information/data; and demonstrated sensitivity to an understanding of the
diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic background of community college
students.
Responsibility:
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized
procedures; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work
units may be required to perform the job’s functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization’s services.
Work Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following
physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching,
and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 30% sitting, 50% walking, and 20% standing. The job is
performed under temperature extremes and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
