Duties:
The Counseling & Career Development Center is seeking an adjunct/part-time Counselor to perform a variety of counseling services to facilitate the academic, career and personal growth of Moraine Valley students. Duties include providing individual and group counseling, intervening with academically at-risk students, consulting with faculty and staff regarding student concerns, attending to students in crisis, assisting students facing financial emergencies, facilitating workshops and seminars, and supporting departmental programming.
Education/Experience:
Minimum of a Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or related mental health field with experience, training, and knowledge in individual/group counseling and assessment related to the academic, career and personal development of college students required.
Applicants must possess an active LPC, LCPC, LSW, or LCSW license that is valid in the state of Illinois.
Qualifications:
The position requires a strong commitment to promoting student learning, development and success through holistic counseling services to meet the changing needs of a highly diverse student population. Applicants should have academic training and or experience with counseling multicultural and linguistically diverse students. Individuals with fluency in more than one language, especially in Spanish, are encouraged to apply. Applicants with a passion for working with academically at-risk students are desired.

Hours:
Up to 27 hours per week. Preference for applicants that can consistently work 25-27 hours per week and during afternoons and early evenings.
General hours: Center is open from 8:30am-6:00pm Monday and Tuesday, and 8:30am-5:00pm Wednesday through Friday. Hours vary during the summer, peak times, and break periods. Hybrid work schedules may be available after a 90-day introductory period.
Note: Funding for some positions in the Counseling & Career Development Center has been provided by the State of Illinois in compliance with the Mental Health Early Action on Campus Act, and is subject to annual appropriation.
