Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Talent Search Financial Caseworker will be responsible for assisting the coordinator with the 10 high schools, by helping students navigate the financial aid area. The Financial Caseworker will design programming that will educate high school students and parents on the financial aid process.

The grant for this position will end September 2028 unless renewed.

Annual Salary: $51,306.00 plus comprehensive benefits starting on the first day of employment, including:

• Health insurance – Low bi-weekly premium. Employees pay 5% of bi-weekly salary for benefit coverage with ability to pay 2.5% when participating in the wellness program.
• Dental insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents after 90 days
• Vision insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents after 90 days.
• Group life insurance – equal to annual salary (up to $50,000) at no cost to the employee
• Voluntary Group Life and Accident Insurance – available for purchase at low rates for additional employee coverage as well as coverage for spouse and children
• Long Term Disability Insurance – available for purchase at low rates with either a 90 or 180-day waiting period
• Retirement – 2 plans to choose from
• Tuition waiver – employee, spouse, and dependents are eligible
• Vacation leave– up to 10.4 days accrued for the first year, increases to up to 15.6 days per year after first year
• Personal leave – up to 5 days per year
• Sick leave – up to 15.6 days accrued per year, including up to 5 days per year that can be taken to care for a family member
• Holiday leave – up to 12 days per calendar year

Job Description:

• Design, implement, and promote a financial learning program by partnering with key stakeholders (e.g., MU Financial Aid) to engage, communicate, and plan a financial literacy program for the 10 Talent Search Schools.
• Educate students and parents from the 10 schools in the area regarding the financial aid process providing them with the tools to manage their financial aid journey.
• Communicate with high schools via workshops and electronic media to relay information about student eligibility and the development of a financial plan for college.
• Manage documentation and collaborate with MU offices, PHEAA and other resources that will support a financial literacy program.
• Manage caseload responsibilities in alignment with Talent Search goals with clear metrics to ensure feedback to families, students, and parents while working to improve program educational outcomes.
• Create and implement workshops for the Summer Talent Search EPPIIC Academies and Career programs.
• Provide regular follow-up, support, and financial information to parents and students of the 10 Talent Search schools.
• Assist with provision of financial services to students enrolled in Talent Search programs.
• Assist the Coordinator with outreach efforts to Talent Search school counselors and staff.
• Assist the Coordinator with the planning of the Talent Search EPPIIC Academies by facilitating specific financial programming.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
