Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Information Technology Division is accepting applications to fill a Director of Systems position within the Network & Systems Services Office.The Director of Systems serves as a member of the Network and Systems Services team and is responsible for Linux (Redhat), Windows operating systems and Application systems installation, administration and troubleshooting; data center operations and providing leadership for the operations of the Systems team.

Job Description:
· Maintain and service University server systems.· Leverage technology to deliver innovative server and cloud solutions that integrates the various business and student systems in an ever-evolving ecosystem of software and hardware.· Provide exemplary customer service to the university constituents through guidance and leadership of the Systems department.· Effectively Manage Systems staff members and resources focusing on both deliverables as well as the training/development of staff members.· Lead/Manage Enterprise Systems environment to provide business critical operations to campus constituents.· Deliver reliable, efficient, redundant, cost-effective Server solutions that successfully drive MU business requirements.· Manage Systems Staff and resources focusing on maximizing productivity while minimizing operational costs.· Prioritize projects and staff to ensure resources and efforts coincide with the university mission utilizing creative thought and analysis to minimize costs.· Serve on IT expanded Directors management Team.· Participate in identifying and establishing future IT direction. Ensure short- and long-term networking plans are integrated into the overall IT strategic plan. Foster communication with other IT units.· Provide leadership and direction to the University community in the effective use and capabilities of secure server and cloud environments.· Documented and proven use of server and cloud resources and other available technology to address common challenges and initiatives.· Facilitate the resolution for technical challenges and develop and maintain standard business solutions.· Identify, analyze, and present solutions to resolve seen and unforeseen issues that directly impact business operations. Facilitate solutions to implement self-healing infrastructure practices and procedures.· Research, evaluate, and recommend new software and infrastructure solutions and direction to Executive Director of Systems and Networking.· Maintain infrastructure growth, ensure proper utilization of resources, and explore new technologies to m get evolving requirements.· Communicate with software and hardware vendors, organizations, and other institutions to ensure conformity to industry standards and practices.· Explore new technologies and solutions to ensure constituents have the capability to utilize cutting technology on university servers and cloud environments.· All other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
· No or very limited physical effort required.· No or very limited exposure to physical risks.· Extensive writing skills (prepare and organize complex documents).· Extensive verbal communication skills (provide information and assistance regularly).· Intermediate math skills.· Most work done at a desk, utilizing a computer and phone.· Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.· Understanding of written and verbal directions.· Ability to sit for long lengths of time.· Must be able to lift/pull/push up to 30 pounds.· Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
