Job Summary/Basic Function:
The building maintenance foreman is responsible for the supervisory and skilled work in directing the work of the maintenance department. The person in this position supervises and participates in the maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment, fixtures, and components in buildings; supporting utility systems and plants; and surrounding grounds. Work involves supervising trades employees; overseeing, assigning, and executing a preventative maintenance schedule, work orders, and maintenance, renovation, and construction projects; and recommending and implementing procedures, methods, and training to accomplish this work. Work includes recommending and overseeing the appropriate use of materials and tools; coordinating and reviewing the work of contractors; maintaining an inventory of supplies, parts, equipment, and tools; estimating project costs, materials, and labor; and maintaining documentation in reports, tracking systems, and blueprint repositories. Work is performed independently and reviewed through reports, discussions, and inspections by a manager.
