Position Summary

If so, we invite you to apply to the Unit HR Coordinator position within the Infrastructure Planning and Facilities HR Office. From plumbers and custodians to engineers and accountants, you will play an integral role in coordinating all human resources functions . Infrastructure Planning and Facilities plans, builds, and maintains the physical environment for the university’s education, research and outreach missions. The unit is comprised of more than 1,100 employees within 6 unions who work to provide the best care and stewardship of MSU’s campus.
Salary- $51,000.00 – $56,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include:

This position will coordinate human resource functions and reports for a large, complex unit with a focus on the employee life cycle touch points (recruitment/hiring, onboarding, performance, training, retention, and succession planning). Also responsible for reports, metrics, data and research for labor relations and compliance issues (FMLA, ADA, Work Comp, RVSM, etc). Serves as a strategic partner with supervisors, administrative assistants, and employees. Provides guidance and instruction on HR procedures, policies, and practices. This position will support and coordinate all HR functions with a focus on hiring, onboarding and special projects.
This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work arrangement after sufficient training (6-12 months). Maximum remote schedule is two days per week. Some evening and weekend hours may be required to attend occasional job fairs or after-hour interviews.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in human resources or a related field; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a human resources function; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic database skills to include data entry, sorting, and calculating formulas. Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel, is strongly preferred. Experience with public speaking. Experience working in a large complex organization. Experience working in or supporting a union environment.

Work Hours
