Position Summary
Reports to and assists the MSSCM Director to manage portions of MSSCM program related to student advising, admissions, recruiting, outreach, program and student management, events/marketing management and data maintenance/reporting.
Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business, Department of Supply Chain Management, has an opening for a full-time Admissions Senior Counselor. The individual will report to the Director of the MSSCM degree program and serve as primary administrative and student support for the program. Overall program outreach duties will include attending conferences and other outside events to promote the department and programs. Assisting with marketing activities other social media engagement specific to the MS program and maintaining alumni/professional contact database and communication for outreach purposes. Other degree program support duties include assisting with the admissions process as the point of intake and initial reviewer, managing records preparation and maintenance; advising students on course options/academic matters; and program management related to enrollments, retention, academic monitoring, student communications, and curricula planning/scheduling. Other activities include, but are not limited to, event planning for graduation and onsite/online course activities, and report development and submissions, including accreditation, program metrics, and college/university requests.
The position requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, experience in program management or supply chain related field, excellent computer skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter, detail oriented, willing, and able to pitch in when needed, and have at least three years’ experience in program management. Having some knowledge in supply chain management and willingness to work a flexible schedule are highly desirable.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in professional admissions work at a regionally accredited institution, including experience with domestic freshman and transfer applicants; experience in specialized admissions area; making formal presentations; and working with the public; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
