Upward Bound Instructor
Job Summary:
Upward Bound instructors serves low-income and future first-generation college students attending Hamilton High School. The project seeks to employ two part-time academic-year instructors that will co-teach an ACT and college preparation course to high school sophomores enrolled in the program. Each instructor will co-teach the course for up to 30 Upward Bound high school students at Hamilton High School for a maximum of three hours per week per instructor.
Duties/Physical Demands:
Instructors will have the responsibility to foster a dynamic, engaged and active learning environment, assist students in developing good study skills and habits, and be supportive of the Upward Bound objectives. A strong emphasis on issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice is valued and encouraged.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in the specific field of instruction or closely related field or a bachelor’s degree and five years of experience teaching high school students.
Desired Qualifications:
Consideration may be given to candidates who can provide creativity in learning both in and out of the traditional classroom setting and/or have participated in or worked in a TRIO program or similar college-access program in the past. Instruction in the following broad subject areas is desired: Composition, Reading, Mathematics, Science.
