DESCRIPTION
Mendocino College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track instructor to join our collegial
and collaborative community of faculty, staff, and students. The instructor will teach core classes in Chicano Studies. The instructor will
lead the Ethnic Studies department and will work with the Dean and faculty colleagues to broaden the college’s offerings in Chicano Studies
as well as courses that meet the California Ethnic Studies requirement. The instructor will teach courses that fulfill degree requirements,
prepare students for transfer, meet new Ethnic Studies GE requirements, and engage intellectually with the community. We seek diverse,
equity-minded candidates who bring new perspectives and experiences to enrich our educational community.
Mendocino College is

The main campus of Mendocino College is located on traditional Pomo land. The

Pathways program, which aims to promote transfer-preparation for Native students, through a cohort model, is entering its fourth year. The
college currently has the most Native American student enrollment of the California Community Colleges in Northern and Central
California.
This is a full-time, tenure track position, mid-year hire, offering a 10-month contract (August-May). This position has a
start date of January 19, 2024. The annual teaching load is 510 lecture hours, 680 lab hours, or a combination of the two. The annual work
year includes 164 instructional days and eleven professional development/flex days. This assignment may include day, evening, and weekend
classes, online instruction, as well as travel to, and instruction at, off-campus centers.

SALARY AND COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Compensation is dependent on education and
experience.
Annual salary offered at $69,512 – $99,727. Step seven (7) is the maximum step placement based on year for year
teaching experience or two years of FTE work experience in the field per step.

life insurance is available for employee purchase. Benefits are effective the first of the month following hire date.
Paid Time
Off: The successful candidate will earn ten (10) days of sick leave per year.
Retirement: This position is eligible for CalSTRS
Retirement. Additional, voluntary 403{b)programs are available.
