ACADEMIC ASSOCIATE, Program in Art, Culture and Technology (ACT)
(part-time, 25 hrs/wk.), to provide administrative support to the ACT program’s academic program. Will take ownership of the academic
program and all its key elements, from recruitment through admissions to course scheduling, delivery, and administration; and act as liaison
with the Department of Architecture. Responsibilities include creating and executing a marketing and outreach strategy for the graduate and
undergraduate programs and responding to information requests from prospective applicants; developing and coordinating ACT’s course
schedule; developing academic year timetables and procedures, monitoring/managing the collection and distribution of information related to
the thesis process, registration, and curriculum; collaborating with faculty and advising on changes to the graduate program; providing
support for meetings and events, open house, orientation, and onboarding activities; TA hiring, training, and management; collaborating with
department headquarters, Institute offices, and other areas at MIT; and assisting with special projects and performing other duties as
requested.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: high school diploma or
its equivalent; five years’ administrative, office, or related experience; excellent organizational, interpersonal, analytical,
problem-solving, writing, and proofreading skills; awareness of organizational dynamics; advanced-level proficiency with SAP, Word,
PowerPoint, Excel, Filemaker, and Outlook; willingness to learn new programs and software as needed; and discretion and good judgment with
confidential information. Must be able to organize, set priorities, and multitask with minimal supervision in a highly visible position
that is subject to frequent interruptions; work as part of a team; deal effectively with faculty, students, and staff; adapt to changes in
work requirements; and work under pressure. PREFERRED: MIT experience and knowledge of its graduate software platforms, and
