General purpose: The International Admission Counselor functions as part of a team responsible for the promotion of the
college overseas and recruitment of qualified international candidates in order to meet enrollment goals in alignment with the overall
mission, vision and DEIG efforts of MICA.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Research, plan, and
travel internationally to recruit undergraduate and graduate students in targeted regions of the world - Evaluate first year and
transfer student application materials, including portfolios of artwork, as a member of the International Admission Committee - Make
promotional presentations to groups of students, parents, art teachers, and college counselors - Assist with on-campus and virtual
recruitment events - Conduct interviews, portfolio reviews, and group information sessions
- Assist in the development and
execution of country-based enrollment initiatives, track progress, and report results and market analysis - Utilize Zoom, Google
Meet, WhatApp, WeChat, Uversity, and other platforms and social media to coordinate student yield strategies - Navigation and
maintenance of the SLATE CRM system. To include updating student and organizational records, management of regional recruitment events,
management of individual student interactions and other duties as assigned - Maintain contact with candidates, their art teachers,
parents, and guidance counselors - Counsel students and parents about admission, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities
- Complete an annual report to include results, research, and analysis for use in developing a strategic plan for the coming year
- Perform preliminary transfer credit evaluation for transfer applicants in assigned territory
- Some evenings and weekend
required - Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- MUST
be comfortable with international travel - Knowledge of Mac OSX, MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite
- Excellent
interpersonal and organizational skills with keen attention to detail - Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable with public speaking and giving presentations
- Ability to relate to people from a variety of cultural
backgrounds
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework in visual arts
- International travel, teaching or recruitment experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- BFA and/or MFA
- Multilingual communication
- Teaching, sales, and/or
marketing experience - Experience interacting with high level administrators at international universities/organizations and with
personnel at embassies/consulates - College admission experience
