The Facilities Attendant is responsible for maintaining function and cleanliness of fitness facilities and equipment within Campus Recreation. These facilities include the LaHaye Recreation and Fitness Center and David’s Place.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Complete day to day operational tasks to ensure well-kept facilities including: equipment and floor cleaning, machine oiling, and assistance with equipment repair.
2. Complete weekly deep cleaning tasks including equipment and floors.
3. Assist with the setup and teardown of events held in the facility.
4. Assist in the day to day operational tasks to ensure seamless function of facilities including: function tests, court and track deep cleans, locker maintenance, lift assistance, and field maintenance.
5. Support departmental risk management systems by documenting incidents and responding to threats as indicated in the emergency action plan.
6. Recommend equipment replacements and purchases as needed.
7. Document, track, and report statistics and numerical data including facility survey data.
8. Frequently assists with events or operations during evening, nights, or weekend hours.
9. Attend all required Campus Recreation trainings and meetings.
10. Perform all other tasks assigned by the Facilities Coordinator to aid and assist in the operation of Campus Recreation Facilities.
11. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Minimum Qualifications:
Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
Ability to work up to 30 hours per week
Availability to work a variety of different shifts (weekends, early morning, afternoon, late night)
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills, problem solving ability, and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
Facility management experience
Earned or progress towards a four-year college degree
LifeFitness technician experience

Physical and Sensory Abilities
Frequently required to travel to local and campus locations.
Frequently required to perform cleaning tasks in the facility.

Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
Regularly lift 45 pounds or less.

Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position are fitness facilities.
Driving Requirements
Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
