Position Overview

The Part-Time Evening Reference and Special Projects Librarian and will provide direct reference services to Lee College patrons, and the library instruction in the evenings. It will also assist the Technical Services Librarian with Technical Services projects and copy cataloging; the Library Director with Digitization projects; and the Instruction and Outreach Librarian with the maintenance of electronic LibGuides.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Reference Services

  • Provide general and specialized instruction services to students, faculty, and the general public, with scheduled hours on the reference desk required.
  • Provide one-on-one instruction at the reference desk.

    • Technical Services

  • Work in collaboration with the Technical Services Librarian to complete technical service projects.
  • Some copy cataloging might be required.

    • Digitization

  • Assist the Library Director in the implementation of the Texas Treasures grant and organization of the photograph collection.

    • Instruction Services

  • Provide occasional library instruction sessions in the evening.
  • Maintain electronic research guides (LibGuides) as established by the Instruction Librarian.

    • Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Master’s degree in Library Science or currently enrolled in Library Science Master’s degree program
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software programs
  • Working knowledge of reference tools including the use of traditional print and online resources
  • Extensive knowledge of computers and databases
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be available to work evening and weekends hours as needed

    • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution
  • Experience working in an academic library
  • Library instruction experience
