PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Under minimal supervision, plans, administers, the University’s intercollegiate athletics programs and establishes policies and procedures that achieve the parallel goals of development of quality, competitive athletics teams and support of the individual educational goals of student-athletes. The Director ensures University compliance with applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), athletic conferences and University rules and regulations governing all facets of intercollegiate athletics programs.
The Director supervises a staff of athletic coaches, professional and support personnel, develops and manages operating budgets for the intercollegiate athletics program, and participates in fund-raising activities as appropriate.

Possesses employee development and performance management skills. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
Ability to develop and deliver presentations. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to identify and secure alternative funding/revenue sources.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILTIY: This position will have supervisory responsibility.
