Job Description
Since 1975, PPI, a Kaplan Company, has prepared over 4 million engineers and architects to pass their licensure exams. The Product Director is responsible for the content and product development for the product lines. The individual oversees the definition and execution of products, working closely with marketing, editorial, and product operations to ensure successful launches. The Product Director understands the markets, market changes, and educational services trends for their specific product line.
The perfect candidate will have experience in higher education in an Engineering discipline, as well as passion for education. They will be helping our PPI exam prep product lines in Engineering (ppi2pass.com).
Primary Responsibilities:
Delivery of Engineering and Architecture product roadmap, which includes the following:
Defining new products/updates to implement product strategy.
Documenting and defining quality and scope to the team.
Working cross-functionally as appropriate to achieve desired result.
Management of product and content management teams:
Mentoring, training, performance management and development.
Monitoring quality and execution of the product.
Improvement of product effectiveness with analysis of customer feedback and implementation of corrections.
Ensures customer feedback is addressed and improvements are communicated to market.
Monitors development issues and bugs needing resolution in product-specific systems.
Coordinate, track, and report on project/issue/system statuses within existing project and content management systems.
In consultation with the Product Owner determine priorities based on departmental objectives, importance to the company, impact on team, and other relevant criteria.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
At least seven (7) years of experience in publishing, educational services.
At least five (5) years of experience in project management or business analysis.
Complex technical field experience with lengthy projects.
Familiarity with common publishing tools and systems, such as Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems, learning management systems, stylesheets, wikis.
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
Diplomatically and effectively communicate with all departments, team members, management, vendors, and project stakeholders regarding requirements, objectives, priorities, statuses, deadlines, and other aspects of work.
Meet established deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and ability to skillfully project manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
Ability to accurately, clearly and succinctly write processes and checklists.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and “customer service” skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Reliable, tactful, and diplomatic.
Accepting of constructive criticism, able to apply feedback.
Proactive approach and work ethic appropriate for a fast-paced, team-oriented, growing company.
